Colleen Felt continues to remind me why I chose nursing through her countless selfless acts when it comes to her patients. She is always thinking of ways to help make their hospital stay as comfortable as possible. Colleen never fails to go above and beyond for every patient we take care of on our unit. In the past two years working with Colleen, I have been amazed at her compassion for her patients (and patients who she isn't currently responsible for). Colleen is extremely empathetic with all of our patients as well. Our unit was taking extended care of a younger patient who had limited visitors and didn't have many personal belongings with them. Colleen noticed that the patient was wearing paper scrubs multiple days in a row and she took it upon herself to purchase the patient some pajamas, sweatpants, t-shirts and sweatshirt. She never fails to build a strong rapport with patients, and is always willing to provide a solid set of listening ears and thoughtful advice and guidance to patients and teammates. Colleen continuously sets a fabulous example to all nurses (seasoned and new) of how to provide even the most difficult of patients with the care they deserve. It is so obvious that Colleen genuinely cares about her patients and never fails to exceed standards of care.
