She has a special ability to make you feel you are the only patient under her care.
I have worked with Colleen Fisk for over five years. She has a special ability to make you feel you are the only patient under her care. One of her patients had been hospitalized and did not pay her insurance premium. Colleen went above and beyond to get the insurance reinstated. Over the years, she has met with many patients to lower their A1C's. She helps them develop better choices and better habits. Colleen had met with one patient for his depression. He would get up in the morning, get his son off to school, and go back to bed. He could not go into a store alone and had let his hygiene slip. Colleen worked with him, taking baby steps. First, to get up and make his bed so he would not be as tempted to go back to bed. Then, to shower every day. There were a few slip-ups, but Colleen kept encouraging him. Eventually, he could even do the shopping once again.
When the patient comes into the office, he is clean, well-kept, has a big smile, and is doing very well. Colleen also meets with three different patients bi-weekly. They are all diabetic, and she has worked with them to lower their A1C's. She has been very successful with all three. When we had our first redeployment, she went to work in labor and delivery because she had experience from her time in the Air Force. When she returned, we were short-staffed for over two or three years. She filled in, adding to her already full plate. Colleen always places the patient's needs first. BMH is very lucky to have such a caring nurse as one of its nurses.
