Colleen is the Sleep Nurse Navigator at Bayshore and also covers the balance program. She was asked to step into the role of the orthopedic navigator to ensure that the CJR initiative mandated by CMS does not suffer. Colleen immediately accepted and assumed this role until the new navigator was hired for the position. She also continued to help the sleep and the balance program during this time. She also trained the new orthopedic navigator.
Coleen is extremely collaborative and works closely with the rehab department and assists with any tasks asked of her and does her best to accommodate the needs of the department and her fellow colleagues. She is open and willing to learn new processes for the success of the department. She is very empathetic and caring and goes to great lengths to help the patients. The example that comes to mind is how she holds the patients to guide them through the pre-operative and peri-operative process. If a patient cannot make it to the pre-op class, she will work around their schedule of the patient and ensure the education is provided. She also makes post-op phone calls and ensures that they are receiving home care services and also follow up with the physicians.
I can go on and on about Colleen and her many merits but feel truly fortunate to work with her. She is an asset to our hospital!
