In addition to what felt like saving me from excruciating pain, she was also kind, patient, explained all instructions, and answered all of my questions.
After my total hip replacement, Colleen was my nurse in the recovery room. She was attentive and kind. I was comfortable at my surgical site but had unbearable reflux, despite taking my medication earlier that morning prior to surgery. She proceeded to give me a few different meds to try to help. She made herself immediately available, watching me closely and staying within 10-15ft of my bed for what felt like a few hours! As a physician myself who has experienced this pain a handful of times over the past decade, I suggested bicitra- an acid neutralizing med I always give to my patients prior to surgery. Despite being unfamiliar with it, she called the pharmacy and my team to confirm it was safe and got it for me- it did the trick! She then brought me a few options for a mild diet to attempt to eat in order to allow me to be discharge home same day. In addition to what felt like saving me from excruciating pain, she was also kind, patient, explained all instructions, and answered all of my questions. When my sister arrived straight from the airport to see me and assess if I could go home same day or need to stay overnight, she patiently went through everything again with her. I would hire her in a heartbeat and wish for a nurse like her to care for any of my family members! She’s exceptional.
