Colleen is so deserving of this award because she embodies what it means to serve her Veterans. Time and time again, she has gone above and beyond for us in the way that she cares. Colleen is most responsive to returning phone calls and always takes the time to carefully explain any changes and she advocates for my husband's care and for him to be empowered in his own healthcare needs. It is not just her willingness to quickly return phone calls that make her a DAISY Nurse, it is her bedside manner. She is genuine and warm. Never once have we seen her and not seen a smile on her face, or in her eyes behind the surgical mask. She never rushes through anything and makes sure we feel well cared for, seen, and appreciated before we leave the facility. The Dole VA has given my husband excellent care and a great deal of that is due to her exceptional care. Every VA needs a team of Colleens so all of the Veterans can experience what my husband and myself have found in her.
