Colleen has been a beacon of hope and support in my son's life since their first meeting in the Pediatric Emergency Department. Her unwavering dedication continued through her time at Pediatric After Hours and now at Upstate Family Medicine at Community. My son, who faces multiple disabilities and chronic conditions, depends on numerous services to thrive. From managing PICC lines to navigating feeding tubes and durable medical goods, Colleen has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure my son not only survives but truly lives. Navigating healthcare is daunting, especially when managing multiple specialists and complex medical needs. At every step, Colleen has shown her deep care and compassion for her patients through both her actions and words. Whenever my son has to visit the Emergency Department, which we try to avoid, we can always expect a heartfelt follow-up call from Colleen the next day to check on him. Colleen is one of those rare individuals who naturally embodies extraordinary qualities. She often humbly states she is just doing her job when complimented, but her actions speak volumes. As my son approaches his 26th birthday, we faced the anxiety-inducing challenge of using the disability rider for the Empire Plan. Colleen’s empathy and dedication were evident in her message: “I know how important this is. He is not my kid, and I had anxiety over him losing insurance!!” Colleen’s unwavering commitment to her patients, including my son, makes her truly deserving of the DAISY Award.
