Collin was recognized by a patient's family whose father suffered a massive stroke, prompting them to talk about end-of-life care. Collin served as the patient's nurse for two days, where he demonstrated the utmost compassion and respect with each encounter. Knowing the patient still could hear what was happening around him, Collin made sure every word and action was gentle and informative so as to maintain the patient's dignity. The nominating family member also is a UPMC Pinnacle Carlisle employee, who, along with her sister is proud to call Collin her colleague. Several weeks later, the patient was able to pass away peacefully in his own home under Hospice care. The family credits Collin for his guidance, support, and professionalism during their difficult time.
