We cannot say enough about Connie's extreme kindness, knowledge, patience, and sincerity. Connie not only cared for C as if he were one of her own, but she kept us (the parents) informed of exactly what was going on, from how he was eating, sleeping, his glucose levels, everything. She took the time to explain everything in great detail to us—and as sleep deprived parents this was huge! Connie valued our wishes and did not make a point to tell us her way, but instead, talked through our decisions. As first-time parents, we really appreciated this. She also helped us through one of the most difficult days we had had at that point—the day our son had to get his IV. After several pokes, the IV had to be placed in his head, as I'm sure they often do, but this was so hard for us to watch. Knowing Connie was with him we were able to leave the room and spare ourselves the pain of watching. After this day she protected that IV from all who held C, knowing how difficult that was for all of us. She even helped explain this to my very opinionated stepmom who most likely did not see the IV as a "big deal." Connie not only guarded C's heart and being during this time, but she guarded ours. She really gave us the peace of mind to know everything really was going to be OK. What an incredible nurse to have for all the babies and families in your care. Thank you, Connie!
