Connie Gordon was my night nurse the first night I stayed in the hospital. Connie has a calming presence and helped to ease my anxiety. She was very comforting and genuinely concerned for me. After my first stay, I was admitted 3 more times to the hospital. My mom was able to request Connie for the nights that I stayed in the hospital that she worked. Her compassion for me and my family, and friends was very comforting. She would check in during the nights more often than she needed to and sometimes just to check on my mom or dad during the night. My mom would sometimes cry at night and Connie would sit with her, offer to make her a cup of tea and reassure her that everything would be alright. Connie would always stop by right before she left for the day to say good bye and let me know that she would be praying for me to have a better day. The last few days I was in the hospital I had different night nurses and she would stop by as often as she could to check on me.
I was finally discharged after a 15 day stay in the hospital. After I was officially cleared by the surgeon, that afternoon Connie called my mom to check on me. During the phone call she told me that she had been praying for me and that she wanted nothing more than for me to return to being a healthy 17 year old that could go back to school and enjoy the rest of my senior year and that she was glad I was feeling better and on the road to recovery.
Connie will always be appreciated and her care and compassion will never be forgotten. We feel truly blessed to have met Connie and I was even more blessed to have her as my nurse. I spent a total of 24 days in the hospital and so did my family. We were around enough nurses to realize that Connie has a special gift of true compassion and we want her to know that her work really does matter.
