May 2019 Honoree
connie meyers, LPN
I'm an Honorably Discharged Navy Veteran, a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. I've lived with PTSD for over 40 years. When I first met nurse Connie, I was at my lowest point in life. Homeless, I had nothing. I signed up for VA healthcare, got mental health counseling and was assigned a general health practitioner. Nurse Connie was on this practitioner's staff. Connie's words of encouragement have stuck with me all these years. She gave me some clean clothes and hugs. It's the human contact, even though I was dirty, that was so uplifting.
I've never begged for anything, but I'm begging you to recognize her. Her professionalism! She always has a smile for us Veterans when we come in for appointments. She remembers my service dog's name. She asks how I'm doing. She always asks about my kids. Please help me say, "Thank You for Your Service."

Thank you, Connie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
