A patient was scheduled for a procedure with our clinic, she called to cancel, noting that she was going to be forced to go home too soon. Connie, RN, recognized this as a concern and continued to ask additional questions. Her patient continued to say that she was "lying about a lot of things" and her marriage was "done." Connie immediately asked her if she felt like her personal safety was at risk. The patient stated, "Yes." Connie then asked if her husband was home, and the patient stated, "Yes," but not in the same room. Connie then asked the patient if she would like the help of the police, and she stated, "Yes." She asked if they could help her get out of the house with her things. Her father will be meeting her at a hotel to bring her home. The police were called immediately and sent to the patient's home for a welfare check. The patient was able to get out safely.
