He listened carefully, didn't judge me, and respected the fact that it was up to me to decide whether or not I would agree to get the recommended treatment.
As a retired nurse and patient, I've witnessed/experienced a lot of nursing practice behavior. That is why I want Conrad Gjovik recognized. Having worked hard to maintain bone health, an osteoporosis diagnosis upset me a great deal. I was immediately struck by his calm manner and ability to empathize with me about my feelings. He listened carefully, didn't judge me, and respected the fact that it was up to me to decide whether or not I would agree to get the recommended treatment. He gave me the freedom to think about all my options & discussed them with me. This included dealing with my concerns about coming to NW during 2020 as an immunocompromised patient. When I did agree to get the Reclast, he talked with me about how to prepare for the infusion and what to do after to protect my kidneys. On the day of the infusions in 2020 & 2021, he EASILY started the IV and checked on me frequently to make sure all was well.

He exhibits qualities/behaviors that I think are essential. He's knowledgeable, detail-oriented, compassionate, understanding, respectful, and empathetic. If a nurse can't communicate with a patient, important points may be overlooked or not covered well. He has excellent communication skills. For three years of my employment at a medical center, I was the Customer Service Training Coordinator, taught classes, and know excellent service when I see it. I would have nothing to suggest to him to improve his practice. He exudes competence, warmth, and compassion. What more could you ask for as a patient?
