She would check and see if he was experiencing greater pain than earlier and bring him relieving medication in a timely manner.  I’m sure this exemplifies Our Lady of Lourdes’ mission and vision to help patients have a positive and comforting hospital stay.
On our first day of placement, I (wife of patient) had no idea how to exit the unit to the parking lot.  Consuella could see my dilemma & went so far as to walk me to the elevator and then direct me to the specific route that led me to my ER parking lot. She then explained the best access and shortcut way when I returned.  This kind of guidance meant a lot in the midst of a trying day.

My husband could barely turn over or couldn’t walk due to a pelvic fracture. We had to watch out for skin breaks or bed sores. Consuella would help change his positions regularly, which he protested loudly with screams of pain.  She told me I know it’s painful for him, but I always do what’s best for my patients so they can be the best they can be.

Consuella kept her eye on his future treatment and looked forward to a change to improve his condition after corrective procedures were done. She kept a close watch on medications, being familiar with each of the ten or so that he had. She took time to help us understand his meds and their purpose.  She would check and see if he was experiencing greater pain than earlier and bring him relieving medication in a timely manner.  I’m sure this exemplifies Our Lady of Lourdes’ mission and vision to help patients have a positive and comforting hospital stay.

While the CNA was bathing him, I was just wandering around the hallway.  Consuella noticed me and asked me if I had been out on the balcony.  I didn’t know there was one, so Consuella left her desk and led me to it.  A couple who were also her patients (the husband) were already out there.  They were joyful to see her, and she introduced us before she left.  We had a nice conversation, which made my break less lonesome.  It was the highlight of my long hospital day!

Consuella was joyful to be on duty, to my surprise, even through a weekend shift.  It’s my honor to nominate this dedicated, efficient, and professional nurse.

We are so blessed that she was our nurse.
