"Miracles happen at TGH because of nurses like Connie."
I would like to take this opportunity to recognize one of our team members who played a very large role in my success on the Rapid Response Team. That team member is Connie Scoggins. Connie and I have worked together collaboratively for many years. She was always my "go-to" person when I had a Neuro issue and I was her "go to" person when she had a pediatric issue. Not only is Connie a good mother, she is an amazing nurse, which is why it is such a pleasure to place the spotlight on her.

On a Thursday, Connie contacted me regarding an unfortunate 18-year-old girl in the Neuro ICU. Connie was thinking outside the box, in hopes of Child Life being able to assist this young patient's fear and anxiety of being in Neuro ICU. After collaborating with each other, it was the consensus this young patient would benefit from being placed in our pediatric ICU.

Although I do not know much about the patient other than her age, I do know divine intervention played a huge role in allowing Connie to be this young girl's nurse for the day. Connie and I put our expertise together. Connie contacted Child Life, and I contacted our awesome PICU clinician who contacted the nurse manager for PICU and the ball began to roll. Miracles happen at TGH because of nurses like Connie.

I am excited today to report, our young patient is now in our amazing PICU and doing well and it is all due to one nurse who simply wanted what was best for her patient. That is the reason I will continue to be a proud TGH employee for the rest of my career. We'd like to thank Connie on behalf of our young patient. Connie is the textbook definition of TGH. She defines nursing and she deserves to know she made a difference in this child's life that day and also made a very large impression on the type of leader I aspire to be in my current role.
