Cora Goss, RN

I spent a week at Good Sam. I came in through the ED, and after my whole experience at the hospital, I left happy. At no time have I ever had better treatment than from all the nursing professionals at Good Sam. From BP checks to helping situate me in bed to helping me stand to use the urinal or get to the toilet, the nursing staff went above and beyond. I am an Army veteran and know that oftentimes the small jobs we do within our jobs can feel thankless.

Cora Goss went above and beyond to work with me and help get me set up after discharge. I am insured through the VA and another private insurance service. She sent out my case to the VA, and when there was no response, she was determined to find a solution and talked to me about other options. She was able to run with everything, clarify Medicare coverage, and set up home visits to the house to help with treatment of my legs and manage the bandages used for the edema. Because of Cora, I was able to get an assistive device; I call it my four-wheel motorcycle, and I was able to be pushed from the car to the house and sit right in my chair, which was the first time that transition was so easy. I was able to get back to my family, equipped with the tools and assistance I needed, and was even able to see my daughter, who came down and was waiting for me at home. Cora's dedication, thoughtfulness, and attention left a lasting impression.

From serving in the Army, I’ve learned that the best award is not a plaque, but a note describing someone’s professionalism and how they made a difference for someone else.
