I was a psychiatric patient on Cora's ward. Attending to a patient with mental illness requires a special set of skills to be able to interact with someone who is emotionally vulnerable and who has a fragile spirit. Cora was never patronizing and exhibited tact in helping me to identify the symptoms of my illness. Cora gave me practical advice and even though she had a busy shift, she always made time for me and never made me feel as if I was interrupting her. She was also a staunch advocate for me with my doctors. Cora exemplified the qualities of a DAISY Award Honoree.
