My 6-year-old had extensive dental work under sedation and refused to drink for 24 hours. The pediatrician on call advised us to go to the emergency department for fluids. My daughter's RN was nothing short of amazing. I could tell she truly cared to make my daughter feel not scared and took the utmost care of her.
