June 2018 Honoree
corey higgins, RN
G introduced me to Corey, my night nurse, like he was a real friend, and I thought, "Maybe Corey is the older brother"! Corey said, "Older??!!" and I laughed. It was done in fun. Corey looked like a quite happy man and he is! He's helped me by caring enough to listen to me about my plight to find a place to stay if I can't get someone by Friday. He helped me and asked me what I thought and that was it. He has inspired me by telling me 'his story.' I am so touched and now feel encouraged to take charge of my life and make it a healthy and happy one! We need all the care we can get and learn and grow from and share the Love!
***
When J had come back from his first clotting removal procedure, he was in a lot of pain. Corey was great at being attentive and staying on top once he got him caught back up with his pain meds. Even running to another floor to get the meds. Anytime we had questions, he would take the time to dig through the chart to make sure it was accurate. Corey was very personable and always asked if the family needed anything after taking care of J.

Thank you, Corey, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
