I have a great fear of hospitals. I've been in excruciating pain for the better part of the week. I did everything I could to try to avoid going to the hospital, but eventually, I succumbed to the pain, and I went to the emergency department, where I met my nurse, Corrianna Wade. I've been to quite a few hospitals for very different reasons over the course of my life, and the level of care I received from this nurse was quite different. I have a great fear of needles, and she quelled my fear and made me feel very comfortable. I had never seen an emergency room as busy as this one, and she still found time not only to take care of her other patients but also to take care of me. I witnessed another patient speak unkindly to this nurse, and she still treated that patient with compassion and with a smile. And I quickly found out that this is just how the nurses at this hospital are. She also took the time to sit and talk to me. She knew I had great anxiety, and she was the epitome of professionalism. She knew immediately what was wrong with me, and she fixed it with my doctor. I am so impressed and emotionally touched by how selfless and giving this person was. No one likes to go to the emergency room, but this experience was almost as incredible as the medical professionals who cared for me. In the light of today's climate, people should be recognized for their excellence more than ever, and no one deserves it more than this person.
