This nurse is celebrating 25 years at OUHC this month. During her employment here she has focused on professional development. She has returned to school to complete an RN and advanced her skills, taking her from MedSurg care into critical care. Each step of the way, her heart and commitment to our hospital and patients have not changed. She remains focused and conscientious in the care she provides and has demonstrated resilience in adapting to multiple organizational changes. In her workday she takes the time to learn about her patients and their families. She uses this information to individualize direct care. She makes sure each has a full understanding of their plan of care. She makes sure our work environment is clean and organized. Her actions show patient and staff safety are her priorities. It is her approach and manner that patients respond to most. She reaches patients where they can hear her and validates that they learned. I still remember watching her talk with a confused patient to make sure he understood fall precautions and why he needed them. She didn't know I was listening. She spoke with extreme kindness and compassion. This is the nurse and person she is every day. She is a nurse deserving of DAISY recognition.
