She has the perfect balance of graceful, fun-loving, and assertive. Her ability to grow team members' skill sets, as well as hold team members accountable, all while holding space for team members in challenging times, is a very hard balance to keep.
Courtney is my supervisor and the director of nursing care management. I've learned so much from working with her - professionally and individually. She is so compassionate about the families we at KKI treat. She always goes above and beyond to problem solve and/or make sure patients requests are being fulfilled. She is well known and appreciated across the entire Institute. She's an ideal role-model and we are very lucky to work with her in the Nursing Care Management department.

Courtney is a compassionate and caring leader who is always willing to help others and wants the best for her patients, families and employees. She has always encouraged me to be my best self and pushes me to achieve my goals. Courtney genuinely cares about her staff and families. She wants us all to achieve the best outcomes for our patients and families. Courtney is one of the most poised, confident, and fair leaders I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She has the perfect balance of graceful, fun-loving, and assertive. And Courtney does this effortlessly. Her fresh set of eyes as a newer leader has really helped to provide a clearer path for nurses to always have representation in big decisions related to hospital functions and patient care. She never hesitates to ask any additional questions, sets the example for effective communication, models a positive mentality, and supports work-life balance. Courtney has set the bar high as a leader as she continues to work right alongside all of us to ensure a job is thorough and done well. Her support, knowledge, and creative way of approaching issues are so uplifting. She is one of the most influential, effective, and essential leaders at Kennedy Krieger Institute. I am a better nurse because of Courtney Dunlow.

Courtney became Director of Care Management in February 2023 and in one year she has accomplished so much as a new Nurse Leader. She has grown the department by three additional staff and two new programs (Nurse Navigator and START). She's rolled out the Nursing Ladder for Care Management and is working to develop a ladder for our patient care coordinators and administrative staff. She has worked with our CNO to help connect Care Management with the greater Nursing Department and align our structures. She also created a fun monthly staff newsletter that highlights the work of our department. We are grateful to have Courtney as such a strong leader, and we appreciate all her hard work over the past year in her new role!!
