While my stepfather, B, was in the hospital for extended periods of time over the last few months, we encountered a wide variety of hospital staff. The mix was vast.
I feel that it's extremely necessary for my family and me to express the utmost gratitude toward one of the CV-Tele Nurses at Lehigh Valley Hospital (Pocono Campus) in East Stroudsburg, PA. Courtney Fabel was my stepfather's nurse for serval days, and we were all so thrilled about that. She genuinely cares about her patients. She goes the extra mile to ensure that they're comfortable and well taken care of. I can't even tell you how often she spent extra time with my stepdad to ensure that he was eating and drinking.
Courtney also spent quite a bit of time chatting with him. She learned that he was a former drag racer and current car enthusiast. She spoke to him about this, she listened and discussed, and she showed a real interest in these things. I have to tell you while watching this all happen, you could see such a difference. After being cooped up in a hospital for nearly two months straight with medical issue after medical issue, it's extremely hard to stay positive; it's hard to focus or enjoy things you used to. You're just not yourself inside of a hospital... especially after that long. But when Courtney spoke to him... B returned. He was engaged... and almost enthusiastic. It was like she knew what to hone in on to bring back his joy. And that was so very important during such a difficult time.
Beyond that, Courtney was so sweet to us. She answered our questions, explained things, and was incredibly friendly. She is such a pleasure to be around, and we never worried when B was in her care. We truly can't thank Courtney enough for being so amazing!!! She is absolutely, positively, 100% in the right field, and the facility is a better place because of employees like Courtney.
