Earlier in the day, I saw Courtney in dress attire, wearing a cotton jacket. She just got out of a leadership meeting and was about to change into scrubs for her shift until a stroke alert was called. Instead of going to change, she sprang into action and began rolling out the protocol for the patient. She got them over to CT as quickly as we do with all our strokes. However, there was a hiccup of a complication. The stroke bed scale on the bed wasn't working, and the patient was a potential TNK candidate. The nurse assigned, tech and Courtney were trying to move the patient to the other bed but were hesitant because they weren't sure if the scale was working and needed to figure a way to test it. Without hesitation, Courtney, in her dress, grabbed the rail, jumped over it onto the bed, and said "weigh it, quick" just to get a quality check. Never have I seen such a physical display from a nurse, let alone in a dress, to get the patient taken care of. The bed they found had a working scale! They quickly got the patient transferred on that bed, weighed, and I think TNK was administered! Overall, it was impressive to watch Courtney handle all that before her shift started.

Thank you, Courtney, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
