Courtney Heller was the nurse who took the extra time to help me. She was instrumental in my discharge and especially the night before. After my surgery I had concerns about my scar. I had asked several nurses about a bra that would provide support without causing problems for my surgery scar. I tried looking for a location or a website to purchase one. The next morning Courtney was back on duty and my nurse. She came to my room and told me she had located a bra through a hospital supply site. What a relief! Courtney had looked on my behalf, on her own time.
She also re-called the diabetes nurse educator and dietician for me so that I was completely comfortable with the information I was discharged with. Courtney made sure I was ready to go home in every way. Her thoughtfulness, and giving up her personal time to help me, makes her deserving of a DAISY Award.
