Courtney Kitchen, CRRN
I’m an MS patient and retired nurse, going to rehab. I have a working knowledge of the inpatient rehab setting. I watched how Courtney Kitchen cared for me and knew she was special.
One night shift, I was struggling with spasms. I rang for a nurse. Courtney came in, and I told her I was uncomfortable and needed to sit on the side of the bed.
Then she did the ultimate caring thing. Courtney asked if I wanted to get into my power chair; those words were golden to me. She took me to the community room and made me tea. I was able to decompress (which is a big deal to me).
It all started at 1:00 am, and after a while, I returned to my room. Courtney helped me back into bed, and for the first time, I slept!! So, I decided she needs to be recognized for her compassion.
Thank you, Courtney. I will miss you, angel girl!
