Courtney consistently goes above and beyond in her unwavering dedication to advocating for her Veterans. On one day in particular, she demonstrated remarkable compassion and vigilance when she noticed that one of the Veterans, who had been unwell in the previous days, was showing concerning physical changes. Her immediate action, pressing to involve her charge nurse and insisting that the Veteran be taken to the ED for urgent evaluation, was lifesaving.

Courtney collaborated seamlessly with the Float RN to give a report to the ED, which they later described as one of the best they had ever received. Thanks to her quick thinking, calm demeanor, and relentless drive to ensure this Veteran received the care he needed, he was swiftly taken to surgery and likely survived because of her advocacy.

Courtney’s excellent care, genuine respect for her Veteran, and integrity in her nursing practice truly exemplify the highest standards. She embodies the compassion, skill, and dedication that define the DAISY Award.
