Courtney Markley, BSN, RN, CPN

Courtney was simply an angel. When you are a Pediatric nurse, you never just have the child as a patient; you also have scared parents. Courtney loved, held, bathed, and cared for my baby as if he were her own.

Courtney is extremely intelligent and never left my questions unanswered. She was in constant communication with me, the doctors, and the respiratory therapy team. She came into the room and re-explained everything to the grandparents, so I didn’t have to.

Courtney looked and talked to my baby like he was her own and stood next to me as I cried and reassured me that she would let me know if she was worried, and that she had it under control. Courtney soothed my baby when I couldn’t; she held him, rocked him, and never once made me feel like my concerns and fears, and questions were an inconvenience.

She even stood with me in complete silence when I was at my lowest and assured me everything would be ok. I, who has been a nurse longer than her, am going to be a better nurse and mother because of Courtney. I will remember the care she gave my baby and me for the rest of my life.
