May 2026 Honoree
Courtney Matway, BSN, RN
Courtney embodies the very heart of what it means to be an exceptional nurse educator—bringing knowledge to life in ways that inspire confidence, curiosity, and growth. She has a remarkable ability to meet learners where they are, creating an environment that feels supportive, engaging, and safe.
She has incorporated online education specific to Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care for specialty education for a vulnerable and unique patient population. Whether working with new nurses finding their footing or experienced staff expanding their skills, Courtney teaches with patience, clarity, and genuine enthusiasm. She doesn’t just share information—she builds understanding, encourages critical thinking, and fosters lasting confidence.
What truly sets Courtney apart is her deep investment in the success of others. She is present, approachable, and unwavering in her support, often going above and beyond to ensure that each learner feels prepared and valued. Her encouragement stays with nurses long after the lesson ends, shaping not only their practice, but their belief in themselves. Her office wall holds testament with the letters of thanks nurses have spontaneously written to extole their heartfelt appreciation.
Courtney’s impact extends beyond individual interactions. She strengthens teams, elevates practice, and contributes to a culture where learning is continuous and excellence is expected. She is truly a team player and supports not only all pediatric orientation and education, but the hospital program, as well.
Her passion for education directly translates into safer care, stronger clinicians, and better outcomes for our smallest patients. Courtney doesn’t just educate—she inspires. She is profoundly deserving of recognition as Educator of the Year.
Thank you, Courtney, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
