Courtney is always involved in the ever-changing practices of the intensive care unit, and you can always count on her great experience and knowledge to make any transition of care smooth for her patients and her team.
Courtney is an amazing nurse leader and charge nurse in the PICU. She goes above and beyond every shift to make sure her patients and families get the best care possible in her bedside nursing role. She also supports all the nurses and other team members who work under the charge nurse role and is greatly looked up to. She puts great effort into the development of the nurses on the unit, promotes effective communication among all disciplines and other units and services to help the ICUs run smoothly for every patient, even as she navigates the daily challenges of staffing, takes endless phone calls, and masters problem-solving by the hour in any situation.
Courtney is always involved in the ever-changing practices of the intensive care unit, and you can always count on her great experience and knowledge to make any transition of care smooth for her patients and her team. She takes time to host team bonding meetings and events for her charge team, participates in unit improvements, and is consistent in a positive, collaborative approach in any role she is in. Her dedication to emergency preparedness is always something I have admired about her, and her passion and care for her work family shine just as bright as it does for her own family and friends.
Courtney's typical shifts she is in a role responsible for the flow and organization of the PICU as a charge nurse, because of the high demands of this role she is not always directly at the bedside unless she is called to assist as a resource or to troubleshoot. In her recent shift assigned to the bedside, she took the extra time to get her patients all the daily care they required, plus more. She does extra education with families, takes all the time to make her infant patients' bath time enjoyable, and has their rooms in tip-top shape. She ensures her nurse neighbors have timely breaks, helps her peers, and provides excellent ICU-level care all while doing so. This is just one example of Courtney’s ARTful contribution to and compassion for family-centered care.
