Every night that Courtney was our nurse, my boyfriend and I felt at ease because we knew our daughter was receiving the best care from one of the most compassionate people we have ever met.
My daughter was born at 36 weeks and 5 days by emergency c-section, weighing only 4 pounds and 4 ounces. She was having a hard time breathing when she was born, so she was immediately taken to the NICU. While in the NICU, my boyfriend and I took shifts staying with our daughter, and during one of the night shifts, we had the pleasure of meeting nurse Courtney.
Courtney had been my daughter's nurse multiple times, and every time she was very considerate and helped us understand everything that was going on with our daughter. My daughter had a lot of tubes and wires in the beginning, which made it very difficult for my boyfriend and me to hold her. I will never forget nurse Courtney asking me if I wanted to hold her and helping us hold our baby girl.
Every night that Courtney was our nurse, my boyfriend and I felt at ease because we knew our daughter was receiving the best care from one of the most compassionate people we have ever met. After about three weeks in the NICU, our daughter was diagnosed with trisomy 18, which we were told was a life-limiting condition.
On top of that, our daughter also tested positive for RSV and had to be put on a ventilator. That evening, Courtney was assigned to be her nurse. Courtney came into our room and asked my boyfriend and me if she could give us a hug, which we appreciated more than she will ever know.
She then took the time to create some keepsakes of our daughter for us while also giving her the best care possible, and will forever cherish and be grateful for. On one of the worst days of our lives, Courtney was so comforting and kind to us, and we will never forget. We can't thank Courtney enough for taking such amazing care of our daughter, as well as showing us so much compassion during such a difficult time.
