Courtney Rice, RN

My mother had to be transferred from her local hospital and go 100 miles away to Memorial Regional Bons Secours for treatment. Courtney was the day shift nurse who helped my mother and me, her daughter. Courtney has an extraordinary bedside manner. She led with kindness, great communication, expertise, and compassion. You see, I live elsewhere, and when my mother took ill, I booked a one-way ticket to be by my mother's side.

In a passing conversation with Courtney, I mentioned my traveling here one-way and having to rent a hotel room to be able to be by my mother's side while in the hospital. Costs were mounting and could limit my ability to stay with my mom during her medical crisis. Courtney listened. She heard me. She cared. She mentioned that there was the Edith Rubinstein Guest House supporting displaced family members of the hospital patients. She also submitted the referral intake to the Guest House on my behalf. In less than 4 hrs, I received a call and was confirmed for a room to stay at the guest house! This would allow me to stay by my mother's side until she can get better and be discharged. These types of people are special. She has a calling to be one to give care. My family and I are thankful for Courtney's service, and we can't say thank you enough.
