Effective nurse preceptors possess several essential qualities: patience, expertise, mentorship, and a keen ability to provide constructive feedback. Courtney exemplifies these traits. She has a patient-centered approach, ensuring that new nurses under her guidance, as well as patients, feel supported and understood.
As someone deeply invested in healthcare and, more importantly, as the son of the patient under her care in the CCU, and given my professional involvement in the healthcare system, I have witnessed firsthand the exceptional dedication, compassion, and empathy Courtney, a CCU nurse and effective preceptor, brings to her role.
First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for fostering an environment where professionals like Courtney can thrive and provide unparalleled care to patients and their families.
One of Courtney’s standout qualities is her unwavering confidence in her knowledge of what patients and families in the CCU need. This confidence is not just theoretical. It’s deeply rooted in her practical experience and genuine understanding. Time and again, I’ve seen her anticipate challenges specific to critical care, including her Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy training, address concerns proactively, and respond to the nuanced needs of both patients and their families with grace, expertise, and a high level of detail.

Her mentorship style fosters growth, and her feedback is always constructive, aiming to uplift and guide.
When my mother was admitted to the CCU, it was a particularly challenging time for our family. Courtney, in her dual role as a CCU nurse and an exemplary preceptor, not only leveraged her clinical skills but also mentored newer staff in the intricacies of critical care, ensuring a seamless and compassionate care experience. Her genuine compassion, empathy, concern, and kindness made a profound difference in my mother’s recovery journey.
One of the most touching gestures I’ve observed is that even when Courtney is not my mother’s assigned nurse for the day, she often takes the time to visit and check on her. This act of going above and beyond truly speaks volumes about her dedication and genuine concern for her patients.
In conclusion, Courtney’s commitment to Patient and Family involvement within the CCU, coupled with her Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy training, was exemplary in every sense. As both a CCU nurse and a preceptor, she embodies the essence of nursing with compassion, expertise, dedication, and unparalleled attention to detail. Given my perspective from within the healthcare system, I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this award than her.
I am confident that Courtney’s contributions, emphasizing Patient and Family involvement and her Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy training, will continue to uplift and inspire within the healthcare community, especially in critical care settings.
