Courtney cared for my son when he presented with a small bowel obstruction and was feeling very ill. Upon arrival to the ED he was taken back to a room and immediately greeted by Courtney. She was calm, kind and compassionate. She completed her assessment and provided the care he needed in a timely manner. Her primary concern was that he was comfortable. She was a patient advocate. She explained every procedure, medication and test in a way we could understand. She requested and provided medication for nausea and pain. My son required an NG tube which was distressing to him and me. The insertion of this was hard on my son, me and Courtney. Why, because she cared! I could see in her eyes her concern. She put him first and although some the tasks were difficult she completed them with compassion. My son was then transferred and admitted to another hospital for three days. He was cared for by many excellent nurses but Courtney stood out! She truly made a horrible evening better by just being her. My son and I are both thankful she was there. We will never forget her extraordinary compassionate care and her clinical expertise. She is an asset to Fayette County Hospital.
