Courtney took a particularly challenging patient (voluntarily) for several weeks. During those weeks, she made a difference in the patient's life by providing quality care, as well as being a friend when a friend was what the patient needed the most. Not even a language barrier was enough to stop her. The patient's entire life was altered during their care; limbs were lost, tears were shed, pain and heartache seen by all. Courtney, however, did more than just witness the hardship. She cried, laughed and played through it all. She went beyond the duties of nursing by establishing a relationship of trust with a patient who felt no trust. She exemplified a true St. Jude nurse in true St. Jude fashion.
