Courtney Snoddy, BSN, RN

Courtney is always a valuable asset to the team. She goes above and beyond in almost everything she does with our patients and their families.

We happened to have a young female patient with schizoaffective disorder and a developmental delay. The patient was having a very rough day. She was experiencing delusions which were causing her to act out, yelling and continuously crying. Courtney spent a great deal of time with the patient doing activities to distract the patient and diffuse the situation. She gave the patient markers and pictures to color, listened to Disney music with her, and engaged her in conversation.

Courtney completely turned the patient's mood around. She also spent time conversing with the patient's parents about their daughter and their life with her at home. The patient was discharged that same day and Courtney stayed to push the patient out to her parent's car.

Courtney told the patient goodbye and before they drove away, the patient replied, "Thanks for hanging out with me, I've never had this much fun at Bloomington Hospital." She also told Courtney, "Everyone was nice, but not as nice as you."

Courtney definitely made an impression on this young lady and I'm sure the patient will not forget the time she spent with her "hanging out."  Courtney is the best!
