I have had the pleasure of working with Courtney over the past several years and have witnessed daily her compassion for patients. As many units go, ours can be quite challenging and she consistently does an amazing job! We had an elderly woman on the floor who was scared, yelling out, and quite agitated. Courtney's gentle touch and kind demeanor, and most importantly her empathy came through. It was a busy night, but Courtney pulled up a chair and sat beside this patient and calmed her fears. She is just as comfortable at the bedside, giving chemotherapy, precepting new employees or being in charge. Handling problems and concerns and teaching younger staff as she goes. Courtney radiates warmth, humility, compassion, and serves others. She is a joy to be around her bright demeanor and sense of humor lights up our unit to make it a better place to work. I don't think we choose nursing, I think nursing chooses us and nursing has definitely chosen this nurse as one of its most special. Courtney is an outstanding role model for the nursing profession!
