Many years back when I was a new nurse and floated to ICU, Craig was always there making everyone comfortable and always sharing his clinical insights. As the years rolled by, I have worked with him on various occasions in different roles. As a team leader, he is fair and ever present. He will do little things for you in a special way, always putting the patient first. At any time, you can call on him to start an IV, boost a patient in bed or stand at your back when your patient is crashing. When he responds to an ACT call he is very prompt and respectfully guides the primary nurse to use good clinical judgment without stepping on anyone's shoes. On a hectic shift, he would go around with a bag of chocolates and tell coworkers to "take all you can for as long as it makes you happy". It is a real treat!
Craig is an inspiration and a champion to each and every one of us. His hourly rounding, clinical skills, passion and measures to achieve patient satisfaction have him putting our patients first all the time. It is my privilege to honor Craig with this DAISY Award.
