Craig was in my room prepping my meds while I was speaking to one of the docs on my care team and heard me say that I was upset about not having any clean clothes to go to rehab with and that I'd been wearing the same dirty clothes for over a month. That set of clothes I'd received a few weeks back from a church organization were infected with body lice and had to be thrown away.

Craig asked for my sizes and sent out an email to all the nurses on the unit asking for donations! I received a duffel bag AND a runner's backpack FULL of clothes. Additionally, his wife and daughter went out and bought me a few more things. All the clothes were clean, smelled so good, and were soft. It made me cry.

When you are homeless, you get used to people not looking at you. They don't want to see it. So, for a person who just met me to reach out to so many others who never met me and ask for help... that was received... made me cry happy tears that wouldn't stop.

In addition to all this, Craig's personality was always caring, happy, and upbeat, which had a very positive effect on my mental health. He made getting through detox a much easier process. I'll never forget him and will always tell people about the wonderful care I received at Penn because of Craig.

Please recognize him for going well ABOVE and BEYOND what is expected of him and in his job description. I am sure there are many other patients who have received the same OUTSTANDING care, but not everyone takes the time to say THANK YOU!!

Thank you, Craig, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
