He has responded to each email tirelessly and kindly, answering every question with honesty and empathy.
Mr. Russell is exceptionally knowledgeable in his chosen field and is a huge asset to his department. He is professional, caring, and makes one feel safe and positive during times of anxiety. His communication skills—both verbal and non-verbal—are excellent.

His approach to work is patient-centered, and he demonstrates the autonomy to make effective changes and offer advice to other disciplines, which ensured I received the correct treatment. Thank you.

I was recently an inpatient on Ward 18 via A&E. Craig took the time to check on me, despite his busy schedule that day. He has been helping me since 2022, following my out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Since having my ICD implant, I’ve gone through some difficult times. Craig became my “go-to” healthcare professional, whether through conversations or email. Even his non-verbal communication conveyed care and positivity.

Whenever I’ve mentioned Craig’s name within the cardiac environment, the response has always been positive. Comments such as, “He’s an expert in his field,” “He’s a lovely guy,” and “He’s an excellent nurse,” are commonly heard.

It has recently come to light that I experienced a very rare complication from my ICD implantation in 2022—something no one could have predicted until symptoms appeared in 2025.

This is understandably a very scary time for me, and I must admit I’ve sent Craig several emails with questions, trying to understand and rationalise what’s happening. He has responded to each one tirelessly and kindly, answering every question with honesty and empathy.

That is why he deserves the DAISY Award—and I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t his first!

My background is in nursing, although I did not work at the LGI. That is why I can confidently speak to Craig’s exceptional qualities from a professional standpoint.

Keep up the great work. We should cherish all our frontline staff.
