Upon our arrival to the 4th Floor ICU Tower we were greeted by Chris Schorick, RN, who informed us that my friend passed away shortly before our arrival. Words will never be able to express the gratitude we felt towards Chris for his compassion during this very difficult time. In a calming voice, he explained what happened to our friend, asked if we had questions, maintained eye contact and then asked if we were ready to see him. Chris gave us our space yet was available at the drop of a hat when we had questions. I have worked in the medical field for over 25 years and have had the privilege of working with some outstanding nurses, however, Chris truly stands out. He has a true passion for patient care as demonstrated by his actions and he excels with his bedside manner. Chris made an emotionally charged situation much easier by his sheer presence and compassion towards others. You cannot teach someone passion or people skills and Chris brings both to the table. He is a true asset to Baptist Medical Center and the patients and families who have the privilege of working with him. Please express our gratitude for his outstanding bedside manner, passion towards others and his compassion for people in grief.
