Crista is an exemplary nurse, and a wonderful person. I asked her to mentor me as I moved into the position of charge nurse. I have seen her charge in our emergency department over the years and felt the effect of her competent leadership. Patients feel valued when they come in contact with Crista, and employees feel supported. She has provided her personal cellphone to out-of-town patients who have expressed fear of being away from their families. She hand-created a form of important items, supplemented with contacts, to be used in uncommon situations. She provided tools to utilize that I may otherwise have not had at my disposal. On my first day as charge, she came in to be present for any questions that might come up. Having her physical presence as support was a huge comfort and made my learning curve much less intimidating. As my mentor she has not only supported my growth in the department, but personally as well. She sends texts to check on me and has taken her personal time to meet for our formal mentor/mentee meetings. Her support and training have made so much difference in my growth experience. I am very blessed to know such a wonderful nurse.
