Cristeenwas put in a difficult situation the other night. She is fluent in Spanish and we were in an emergency situation and we needed her.
It was a difficult time.As a new nurse, she had to translate devastating news to a patient. Her voice was cracking, her eyes were tearing up, but she did it. I cannot imagine how hard that was for her. She helped the doctors, other nurses, laboratory staff, the Chaplin, and I help this family. Yes, we could have used the translator phone, but it was heartfelt coming fromCristeen, holding the patient's hand as she spoke with them. She helped calm the family and helped me take care of the patient.Cristeenhadn't ever been exposed to a situation like this as a nurse. She was our angel.
In thosesituations,it is very difficult to keep it together and focus on patient care. She helped me focus on the care and she gracefully helped everyone through the night. Thank you!
