Cristina was exemplary, attentive, kind, empathetic and helpful. Modeling all the attributes The DAISY Award aims to recognize. While my wife was a patient, Cristina took great care of her and made her recovery comfortable. She cheerfully and conscientiously carried out her duties and went above and beyond by making sure I, as the husband of the patient, was also comfortable. I also overheard her say she had not been able to go to lunch due to her patient load but finally got to go after we were settled in our room. She clearly prioritizes her patients over her own needs. Then, to seal the nomination – I bumped into her in the cafeteria at breakfast – I said I wish I’d known and would have brought her up something. Instead, when I went to check out and pay for my breakfast, I was informed that Cristina had already paid for my breakfast. What a tremendous act of kindness and consideration for a patient’s family. Cristina clearly emulates the spirit of The DAISY Award, and I hope she’ll be recognized for her excellence in nursing.
