Crissy is the reason I am going to school to become an OB nurse because she is such an inspiration, and I hope one day that I can have the same impact on someone that she did for me.
I had my daughter last year. She ended up coming 3 weeks earlier than she should have. Crissy was there with me through my entire labor and provided anything and everything I needed. She was there through my epidural which was a nightmare and talked me through everything. I really don’t think I could have gone through my labor without her.
Once my daughter was born, she was having difficulty eating. The first time we went to feed her she turned blue and quit breathing. Crissy was right in my room when this happened, and calmed me down after it happened. The next day she had to have several tests done, such as a GI tract swallow. X-Ray wanted to take her down, but Crissy stayed with her the entire time and took her down to X-Ray and was with her through all the other tests they ran that day. Crissy was a huge advocate and made sure she was taken care of when I wasn’t able to care for her.
My baby ended up having to be transported to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, and Crissy stayed over her shift until the ambulance came to pick her up. Crissy also checked in on us later in the week to make sure everything is okay. She went above and beyond what her job description calls for. Crissy was the best nurse that we have ever had. She is the reason I am going to school to become an OB nurse because she is such an inspiration, and I hope one day that I can have the same impact on someone that she did for me.
