Cristina was recognized by her co-worker for her care of a very sick patient in PACU. Cristina had a really tough Monday this week. She had some difficult patients, and of course, her last patient of the day was the hardest. The patient came out after a case was terminated halfway due to the pt going into a lethal rhythm. She immediately cared for the patient and expedited necessary medications to assist with the patient's afib RVR. EKG, cardiology consult, and hospitalist inpatient transfers were all obtained within 30 minutes of the patient being in PACU. She saved this man's life after his surgery, and she is an amazing and thorough nurse. Not only did she help this man clinically, but she comforted him after the doctor talked to him about his terminal illness and code status. The patient was crying, and Cristina comforted him and showed so much empathy for this man. Seeing her interact with him literally brought tears to my eyes. I am so lucky to work with such a caring, empathetic, and intelligent nurse.
