Recently, this nurse advocated strongly to admit a patient after surgery instead of discharging home as planned. This nurse's strong clinical skills helped this nurse to recognize a potentially dangerous heart rhythm. By advocating to admit the patient, this nurse prevented a possible serious postoperative complication. This nurse had to advocate again when the patient was not placed on the telemetry floor. This nurse kept the family fully informed throughout, and they were extremely appreciative.
