Mrs. Gillett never makes anyone feel incompetent, inadequate, or not good enough, and is often the person many go to for advice and guidance.
Mrs. Gillett has shown above-and-beyond compassion for students while in the classroom and at clinicals. She is always there to help, support, and assist in any way possible and goes beyond what is asked of her. During my critical care rotation, some of my classmates and I had no idea what hemodynamic monitoring was. Mrs. Gillett took the time to get out all of the supplies, take us into a clean room, and show us exactly what it was. There aren’t many clinical instructors willing to take the time to do that, and it’s things like that that leave an impact on students long after their time with the instructor has passed! Mrs. Gillett never makes anyone feel incompetent, inadequate, or not good enough, and is often the person many go to for advice and guidance.
Oftentimes, critical care felt chaotic and difficult to follow, but Mrs. Gillett never adds to the chaos. Instead, she is steady and calm, and it is such a relief knowing we have someone like that to turn to. When we finished our clinical rotation, Mrs. Gillett gave us nursing charms and thanked us for being her first clinical group and being patient with her. I would have never known she was nervous about being our instructor until that moment, and when I say she blew it out of the water, I am not lying. You don’t get nurses, let alone people like her, very often, and I think the division of nursing is a much better educational environment with her on faculty. Thank you for all you do for us Mrs. Gillett, your work matters and thank you for making sure we understand that we matter too!
