After a hip replacement, I spent 2 days in recovery at the VA hospital in Pittsburgh. I was sore and didn’t know what to expect after my surgery. My daytime nurse, Crystal, explained what was happening to my body and what to expect. She always had a positive and happy attitude with a smile on her face. She ran to accomplish whatever needed to be done. As busy as she was, Crystal always made room for more on her plate. She made me feel unique. She had a quick wit, laughed, smiled and had a pleasant greeting to patients and visitors alike. When my medications were not complete she took extra time to correct the mistakes. I didn’t have my cellphone with me, so she made phone calls on my behalf to doctors and family, all the while being cheerful about it. She had a gentle touch when physically helping me move after my surgery. She was a positive force for the wellbeing of all her patients. She made my time at the hospital extremely comfortable.
