Service, innovation, dignity, safety, caring ... these are the core values listed on your website. I must admit, we all know that those ideals are not espoused or executed by all individuals within any organization. As a Chesapeake Public Schools teacher of many years' experience, I have seen both public themselves and the public servants meet, exceed, and fail at meeting ideals held forth. In today's stressful world, it is even harder to maintain standards, much less exceed them!
I am writing to you all to praise an exceptional employee, Ms. MacDonald of 5West. My elderly, frail father who has dementia and many other ailments was brought to her floor on Sunday with pneumonia and COVID. I or my family could not be there to help as we would otherwise to make the whole process easier; we had to rely on the medical staff individuals exclusively.
How then, can you explain the over and above, exceptional, jovial, kind, innovative care given by Ms. MacDonald. Every time, she would find the answer, try something new, look up information, ask the doctor, etc. She was even calling me as I picked up his discharge meds and going every detail needed. She was a shining light in what was a difficult and sad time for our family. You need to know about her. She reflects great credit upon herself and the ideals put forth by the medical community at large and your organization.
Our family is indeed grateful for her caring and kindness, attention to detail, her dedication to service, my frail helpless dad's safety, and the high standards of good medical care. You don't see that every day anywhere ... mediocre is acceptable to so many now. We are very grateful to her. My dad is back in his senior community now and it is because of her that all the difference has been made.
