Crystal goes way above and beyond to help her patients, co-workers, and doctors she works with. I have always noticed when faced with a problem, she would not only share the problem but various solutions to that problem. When she is the Charge GI RN or stepping in to be the GI Coordinator, you can guarantee that things will get done the way they are supposed to and in a timely manner.

In the post-op recovery area, while receiving GI patients, she looks into the operative notes and starts educating the patients, families, and their caregivers on their diagnosis, recommendations, and next steps. By the time the provider is out to talk to the patients or their families, they already know so much about the recent diagnosis and various treatment options. This is so helpful for the patients and the entire GI team. Because of her education provided to patients, her patients already know what the diagnosis is and what the treatment options are for their illness that, many times, they are all ready with amazing questions for the provider and already ahead in the game.

A specific example of Crystal going above and beyond involved a patient who had taken her entire prep for a procedure. The patient couldn’t get ahold of her driver to bring her for the procedure. Crystal immediately offered to pick up the patient and drive her home after her procedure. Without her going above and beyond, the patient would’ve missed her procedure.
